motels. Must be well, vulnerable, homeless, and with income less than 50% of the

VA Grant and Per Diem (GPD) Transitional Housing Programs
Eligibility for VA Healthcare is not required. All characters of discharge accepted,
except Dishonorable. Must have at least one day of active duty service, outside of
training.

  • Incarcerated veterans can qualify for housing
  • Challenge is arranging housing upon release from incarceration
  • Should still access housing resources available through IDOC and other community options such as Valor Point in Boise
  • Grant per diem housing within 30 days of release
  • Housing is not typically available because spots cannot be held
  • Encourage veteran to work with VA housing for more long-term housing options
  • Community housing options that serve veterans are available as well
