Introducing Kindness Cards
A collaboration with the Idaho Department of Correction to share gratitude and appreciation in our communities
A Kinder Community Starts with Us.
Kindness Cards is a collaborative volunteer project organized to foster positive community connections. Kindness Cards are a way to show appreciation and caring for our valued community members who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. During this time of uncertainty and stress, the project hopes to bring people together by spreading kindness and gratitude through personalized, handwritten cards.

Local nonprofit organization BarNone, Inc. is organizing a volunteer activity to foster positive community connections: Kindness Cards. Kindness Cards are a way to show appreciation and caring for our valued community members who have been most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, including healthcare workers, frontline employees, emergency responders, hospice staff, and our elderly. During this time of uncertainty and stress, BarNone is bringing people together by spreading kindness and connection through personalized, handwritten cards.
The residents at the South Boise Women’s Correctional Center will be assisting us by designing handwritten cards for community members. Each card will include a handwritten message of appreciation for the work that community organizations do and have done during the pandemic. We see this as an opportunity to maintain a connection with the community for residents of the state’s correctional facilities and show the kindness and humanity of those residents to community members.
The Kindness Cards Project is designed to be collaborative with community partners. We are looking for card recipients to ensure that Kindness Cards are made and received across our community. Businesses and organizations that partner with the Kindness Cards Project will be promoted during our marketing, news releases, card packages. Our partnership opportunities for the Kindness Cards Project are:
- We are seeking 10-12 card recipient organizations in the Treasure Valley that employ, serve, or house those we hope to reach with our Kindness Cards.
- A partner contact person would let us know the number of cards to make (lists of names are not needed) and any special instructions. We would deliver or mail a box of Kindness Cards for them to distribute to their employees or residents in whatever way works best for them.
- As an added bonus, Kindness card recipient partners can help spread kindness by sharing photos of the received cards on their media platforms or by emailing them to firstname.lastname@example.org.
